Click here to view the Bergen Evening Record article dated Wednesday March 18, 1942, which lists Edmond Albert Okuniewski of 323 Jackson Avenue Hackensack with number 1,584 being tagged for Army service. The article states that the first Bergen County number drawn was 441 only the fourth number picked nationwide and it was held by Salvatore Lepera of 202 Russell Place Hackensack age 40 with four children who had served during World War I with Company G from Hackensack. I am doubtful he was called to active duty. Written by: |
